Timely Insights into God's Word from Khandielese Reyes

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. This Weeks Message- (scripture taken from King James Version)

"THE WISDOM OF SOLOMON"

“And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions.  And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.  And Solomon told her all her questions: there was not any thing hid from the king, which he told her not.  And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built, And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.  And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom.  Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard.  Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom.  Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice.  And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices very great store, and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.  And the navy also of Hiram, that brought gold from Ophir, brought in Ophir great plenty of almug trees, and precious stones.  And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king’s house, harps also and psalteries for singers: there came no such almug trees, nor were seen unto this day.  And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty.  So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.”  (1st Kings 10:1-13)

The wisdom of Solomon was that of greatness.  His ability to understand and discern certain matters was impeccable.  When many think of Solomon they identify his name with “wealth”, yet it was not his wealth that was the topic of conversation in the land.  It was not his wealth that drove many, including the Queen of Sheeba to his presence.  It was his wisdom that caught the attention of many and he obtained this wisdom simply by ASKING…..

In the third chapter here in the book of 1st Kings, the LORD visited Solomon in a dream and said: “Ask what I shall give thee.” At that moment Solomon had opportunity to asked anything of the Lord and it would have been given to him.  He could have asked for silver and gold, or a great name and prestige, but instead what concerned him the most was how to effectively and fairly judge and govern such a massive amount of people as Israel.  Thus he declared unto the Lord: “Give therefore thy servant AN UNDERSTANDING HEART to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad…”  The scriptures tell us that Solomon’s request PLEASED the Lord and He granted his request saying: “Because thou hast asked THIS THING, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, no hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself UNDERSTANDING to DISCERN JUDGMENT; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.  And I have also given thee that which thou HAST NOT ASKED, both RICHES, and HONOUR: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.”  Now, it is possible that somewhere in Solomon’s heart he desired long life, riches and the like as the Lord mentioned these things in specifics, however if such were in his heart, they were secondary to his desire for wisdom.  He pushed every other desire and/or need aside and focused on the most important gift that would enable him to do an effective work.  He knew that having all the riches of the world would not enable him to effectively rule Israel as King, but WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING would!

Now, let us be TRULY honest with ourselves for now is not the time to put on stained robes of righteousness, giving off an illusion that our hearts have sought after the things of the Lord and the gifts of the spirit, for he knows the hearts of every man and woman.  Although the tongues may speak one thing, the heart may say another.  With our mouths we may confess to one another the desire for “spiritual gifts”, however in the manner that some pray indicates the TRUE   desires are for those things that are tangible, that which would inevitably fade away.  How many can honestly say that the petitions and prayers that have gone up to the Lord, have been that of seeking WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, AND DISCERNMENT?  If the Lord should visit one of us, as He did Solomon, in a dream by night, and say unto any one of us: “Ask what I shall give thee”,  how many would begin rambling off a long list of things all centered around self?  Or how many, especially those who are called into the offices of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor or Teacher would say to the Lord, “Give me wisdom and understanding that I may Establish, Edify, Exhort, Speak, Lead, Shepherd and Teach your people EFFECTIVELY for YOUR GLORY!  For many are more concerned with enlarging the tangible “BUILDING”, rather than enlarging the spiritual “BODY”.  Without Spiritual wisdom and discernment, without spiritual understanding one cannot successful and effectively lead.  Leaders NEED WISDOM, as well as those who seek a more clear understanding of the things and will of the Lord.  We cannot make decisions with our emotions,  nor determine the outcome by looking at the present circumstance.  We cannot attempt to understand spiritual matters with the carnal mind nor can we discern spiritual matters with our emotions, as this way will always lead to failure for we cannot understand nor can we explain the things of the Lord with the limited human knowledge of the mind.

Now, none of this is to say that we are not to go to the Lord when in need for he desires that we put our complete FAITH and TRUST in Him, seeking Him in ALL things.  However, His word declares that he KNOWS of the things we have need of BEFORE we ask.  Thus, we are to SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS first, and the promise that follows says: “And ALL these things shall be added unto you.”  There are times we may seek for a “solution” to the problem, when what we should be seeking for is spiritual discernment and wisdom whereby he would show us the way.

The bible declares that there shall never be another like Solomon, however let us ask for the things King Solomon asked for and if we truly seek for wisdom, for knowledge, for discernment, and the like, we will FIND IT for it is the Lord’s will that we receive spiritual understanding in all spiritual matters.

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; so that thou INCLINE THINE EAR UNTO WISDOM, and APPLY THINE HEART TO UNDERSTANDING; yea, IF THOU CRIEST AFTER KNOWLEDGE, and LIFTEST UP THY VOICE FOR UNDERSTANDING; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; THEN SHALT THOU UNDERSTAND THE FEAR OF THE LORD, AND FIND THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD. For the LORD GIVETH WISDOM: OUT OF HIS MOUTH COMETH KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING.  He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.  He keepeth the paths of judgment, and perserveth the way of his saints.  Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.  When WISDOM ENTERETH INTO THINE HEART, and KNOWLEDGE IS PLEASANT UNTO THY SOUL  (Pro 2:1-10)

I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE!

May the peace of the Lord be with you today and always…….
