“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  But The Fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.   And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  If we LIVE in the Spirit, let us also WALK in the Spirit.  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Gal 5:19-26) 

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?  Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory NOT, and LIE NOT against the truth.  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, WITHOUT partiality, and WITHOUT hypocrisy.  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.”  (James 3:13-18) 

Once a believer has RECEIVED the Gift of the Lord God’s most precious Holy spirit, we must then begin to yield ourselves to the Spirit, and allow “The Fruit of the Spirit” to do a good work in and through us that we may, in ALL things GLORIFY our Father in Heaven.  The Holy Spirit working through us, producing Good fruit, will enable us to live lives pleasing and acceptable before the Lord our God.  For we, of our own works, driven by our own will,  are incapable of doing  such, thus we must “yield” to the Spirit of the Lord, and die to the wicked works of our Flesh. 

There are some who “profess” with surety and absolution, to be “filled with the Spirit” of the Lord and even attempt to prove this to others in their dramatization during the gathering of the congregations during services, in their long drawn out, ritualistic prayers where it would seem much is being said, but nothing is TRULY being SPOKEN for there is no anointing,  and yet in the lives of such, the actual fruits they’ve produced have proven to be something other than the works of the Holy Spirit.  Somehow, they’ve mistakenly believed that being FILLED WITH the Spirit, that WALKING IN the Spirit, and OPERATING IN the Fruit of the Spirit is based solely upon how they “feel”, when in essence, “The Fruit of the Spirit” has nothing to do with feelings at all, but has everything to do with action, presentation, the way we live our lives in the presence of believers and non-believers alike and in the very presence of the Father.  If one regularly lifts up the needs of others in prayer, and prays for the salvation of many lost souls, and YET in his/her heart such a one is harboring bitterness, unforgiveness and hate towards another, The Fruit of the Spirit is NOT present.  Or, if one is a minister of the Gospel and preach wonderful and moving sermons, has a great number of followers, and appears to be outwardly successful and YET within his/her heart, such a one is self-seeking, self-driven, self-motivated, and have NO true love nor compassion for the “sheep”, The Fruit of the Spirit is NOT present.   There is NO truth in one’s profession of being “Led” by or “Filled” with the Power of the Holy Spirit of our Lord, and such a one’s outward conduct is that of strife, envy, jealousy, unforgiveness, bitterness, hatred, divisions and the like for the Word of God declares that we will know them by their fruits and such behavior is NOT a production of the Fruit of the Spirit, but is the EVIDENCE of the works of the Flesh!  And the word of God is very clear in saying those who make a practice of such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.  Even the showing of favoritism, and partiality among the brethren is the works of the FLESH and NOT the Spirit for who are we that we should esteem one above the other, when our Heavenly Father sees us ALL the same.  We placed some on pedestals, and kicked others in the dirt and yet say we are “Spirit Filled”.  Filled with what spirit?  For it is NOT the Spirit of our Lord God!   

If we are going to produce “Good Fruit”, then we must first die to self, and allow the Holy Spirit to MOVE IN and do the work for us, for in our flesh dwells NO good thing.  Thus if we are walking according to the flesh, the production of our fruit is rotten and useless.  We can begin by first allowing that part of The Fruit of the Spirit, the very essence, the very center of it all, the core if you will,  that being LOVE to take up residence in us, and allow this goodness to successfully help us in the production of excellent, Good Fruit!  For the fruit of the Spirit begins with LOVE as it is written here in the book of Galatians “But The Fruit of the Spirit is Love,…..  ”When we have Love, we have joy, with joy we have peace, with peace we can endure longsuffering, through the sufferings we demonstrate to others gentleness, goodness and FAITH, meekness and temperance. If we have not LOVE, then we have NOT the Love of the Father in us and are otherwise govern and ruled by our flesh.  If we have not LOVE, then we cannot profess to be followers and disciples of Christ Jesus, for he declared that the world would KNOW we are HIS, IF we had Love one for another.  If we have not LOVE, our prayers are hinder for where LOVE doesn’t exist, HATE DOES!   

We must remember “The Fruit of the Spirit” is not about feelings, but ACTION and in order to be successful in the production of Good Fruit, we must first YIELD to the one who will enable us to do so….The HOLY SPIRIT, of our Heavenly Father.  Surrender to Him Today, and Let him do the Work through You.  We CANNOT do it alone…. Without Him, we are useless.  He wants to lead us, to guide us, to comfort us, to help us but we must be willing to acknowledge in speech: “Father, the works of my flesh leads to sin and sin death.  I cannot do this on my own.  Apart from you, I can do NOTHING!  By Faith, I receive the Power of your Holy Spirit  with the understanding that nothing I do is of my own will, but  it is the Spirit that worketh in me. I repent of the works of the Flesh and open my heart to the Fruit of the Spirit.  Give me the wisdom and understanding of the Fruits of the Spirit, and teach me YOUR ways, that in ALL THINGS that I do, YOU my Lord may be GLORIFIED.  Enable me, by the Power of your Holy Spirit, to live my life pleasing and acceptable before you. In the Name of my Beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I pray.”
