This Weeks Message- (scripture taken from King James Version) "TAMING THE TONGUE" My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall
receive the greater condemnation. For in many
things we offend all. If any man offend not
in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses mouths, that
they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of
fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor
listeth. Even so the tongue is a little
member, and boasteth great things. Behold,
how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And
the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: So is the tongue among our members, that it
defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire
of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of
birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea is tamed, and have been tamed of mankind:
but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and
therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessings and
cursings. My brethren, these things ought not
so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the
same place sweet water and bitter? Can the
fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? Either
a vine, figs? So can no fountain both yield
salt water and fresh. Who is a wise man and
endued with knowledge among you? Let him show
out of good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie
not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth
not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For
where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,
then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without
partiality and without hypocrisy. And the
fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. (James 3:1-18) Depending on how its used, the human tongue can be the most
dangerous weapon we possess. With it we can
tear down or build up, curse or bless, strengthen or weaken, bring joy or sorrow, speak
life or death as the word of God declares: But
the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. See, I have set before thee this day life and
good, and death and evil (Deut 30:14-15). The illustration of how deadly the tongue can be is defined clearly
here in the book of James. Here James
illustrates how man is able to tame even the most wild of beasts, of birds and creatures
of the sea, how we are able to steer great ships in the direction we desire it to go, and
yet we have such difficulty in Taming the
Tongue. With our mouths we lift up
our voices to the Lord in prayer, praise, worship and thanksgiving and with the very same
mouths we speak curses and all manner of evil against one another. This ought not to be so. Our Lord speaks of the dangers of our words in the
book of Matthew where he declares: O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART THE MOUTH
SPEAKETH. A good man out of the good
treasures of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil
treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I
say unto you, that EVERY IDLE WORD THAT MEN SHALL SPEAK, THEY SHALL GIVE ACCOUNT THEREOF
IN THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT. For by THY WORDS thou shalt be JUSTIFIED, and
by THY WORDS thou shalt be CONDEMNED. (Matt 12:34-37) Knowing this my friends, we must be cautious
in what we speak to and about one another AND what we speak of ourselves as our
very own speech can bring upon devastation in our own lives. Continual negative speech will bring upon
continual negative circumstances, and the same if your speech is positive. If you are one to speak such things as
Ive always been sick, Ill never be well
.Nothing good ever happens
to me
..Ill never have my hearts desires
.etc. then you will never receive
the blessing the Lord so desires to give you, for with your OWN mouth, you speak
curses and condemnation in your OWN LIFE. The
Lord knows our hearts, and our speech must line up with what we TRULY BELIEVE in our
hearts as again his word declares that out of the abundance
of the heart the mouth speaks, thus what we believe in our hearts is spoken
through our mouths. If you believe in your
heart that you are healed then why speak the words you will never be? If you believe in your heart that your prayers
according to his word have been answered, why speak as though they will never come to
pass? If you truly KNOW in your heart what
HIS WORD says, and KNOW according to his word those promises apply to YOU as God is NO
RESPECTOR OF PERSONS, then why speak opposite of what HE says? Beloved, what we SPEAK is just as important as
what we BELIEVE! The Lord also says this
about our speech: For
verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall SAY unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall BELIEVE
THAT THOSE THINGS WHICH HE SAITH shall come to pass; HE SHALL HAVE WHATSOEVER HE
SAITH. (Mark 11:23) We must also tame our tongues to refrain from speaking evil of one
another. Being involved in ministry I hear so
much negative and evil speech from one member of the Body of Christ towards another. Speaking against a man or woman of God is extremely spiritually dangerous, thus we
must be very careful in the things we say. As
children of God, as parts and members of the Body of Christ, we are NOT to tear down one
another but are called to BUILD UP! Thus, if
you see your brother or sister stumbling SPEAK LIFE into him or her, not the speech of
death! Spewing out harsh words will not
strengthen a weaken vessel, but will only cause a saddened heart to burst more in sorrow,
and YOU will be held accountable for YOUR words. Many
of us need to search our hearts to determine the underlining reasons for our negative
speech, for behind much of such speech lies envy and strife which only serves to divide. The Lord calls each of us into a particular work
for HIS Glory, thus we should be strengthening one another in that work, encouraging one
another and praying ALWAYS for one another, NOT trying to tear down one another. We are to be working TOGETHER
, not apart. This is NOT a competition
of whose the greatest, but rather HOW
MUCH IS THE LORD BEING GLORIFIED IN THE THINGS WE DO AND SAY and are we SUCCESSFULLY as a WHOLE fulfilling HIS WILL
in and through our lives!!! If we
want to be great in HIS EYES, then we had better become A SERVANT and we can start
by serving one another with a genuine desire to walk in Love. We must also REFRAIN from participating in idle gossip of one another. If you know of a brother or sister in error, WHY are you going to another believer and NOT the brother or sister YOU FEEL is stumbling. What purpose does it serve to engage is gossip about him or her? If you were TRULY walking in LOVE you would go directly to that brother or sister IN LOVE, with your concerns. Beloved saints of God, this is the behavior of the world, NOT the children of God. When are we going to learn that the mission we are on, the calling we have surrendered to has NOTHING to do with us, and everything to do with GLORIFYING OUR FATHER! It is NOT about us, but about HIM! Do we still lack understanding that the world watching us and judge CHRIST by OUR behavior! When they see Christians behaving in an ungodly manner, they then reject Christ, NOT US, but THE LORD! Do we really want the responsibility of causing one to turn from Christ because of OUR BEHAVIOR? When we speak unkindly towards one another, we do not to each other, but TO THE LORD! What we say to one another, we say to HIM! We MUST guard our tongue from evil speech! In my opinion, the only way we can begin Taming the Tongue, is to begin to Speak HIS WORDS! Walk as HE WALKED, speak as HE SPOKE! Be like Christ in ALL things, and have GENUINE LOVE one for another. How difficult really is it for us to walk in Love? It seems to me it would be the easiest command given of the Lord that we could fulfill by the power of the Holy Spirit. When we TRULY LOVE one another, we would not speak evil, but good. Our desire should be to please our Lord in ALL things and it would please Him GREATLY, if we would have LOVE one for another! I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE! May the peace of the Lord be with you today and always . KhandieleseDaughter & Servant of the Lord God |
