Timely Insights into God's Word from Khandielese Reyes | |
This Weeks Message- (scripture taken from King James Version) "DEPART FROM THE FAITH" Many
therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard
saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in
himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth
this offend you? What and if ye shall see the
Son of man ascend up where he was before? It
is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto
you, they are spirit, and they are life. But
there are some of you that believe not. For
Jesus knew from the beginning who they were believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore
said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back,
and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus
unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to who shall
we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that
Christ, the son of the living God. (John
6:60-69) Scripture
tells us that in the latter times some shall Depart
From The Faith. It is difficult for
many to understand how a person who once knew the truth, would at some point in his/her
life, deliberately reject it and choose to surrender to a lie as the bible tells us that
they will give heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils (1st Tim 4:1). But, as we read the above scripture passage
taken from the Gospel of John 6th chapter, we are able to see the one thing
that caused and continue to cause many to stumble and Depart From The Faith and that is
becoming offended by the words they hear. In
this chapter, the people are seeking out Jesus because of the miracle he performed the
prior day in multiplying 5 barley loaves and two fish to feed 5,000. They desired more of this bread since they had
become full physically, but the Lord desired they seek for that which would give them
spiritual fullness. Thus he tells them not to
labor for the food that perish, but for the food which endures to everlasting life that
the Son of Man will give them. Because of the
miracle in the feeding of the 5,000 they were prepared to deem Him The Prophet,
but were not quite ready to accept him as the WAY to eternal life. As
told here in the book of John, there were many that were called disciples of Christ
(mainly one who comes to learn) outside of the twelve He personally chose to be with Him,
who followed after Him seeking to learn the ways of God.
They were always eagered to hear his words as he taught in and outside of
the synagogue and received most of what he shared up until he began to share with them the
WAY to eternal life. In this chapter, he
shares with them that HE is the Living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for
ever: and the bread that I give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. He went on to say: Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood,
hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. Instantly
because of their lack of spiritual understanding, they became offended by the words he
spoke and once they allowed themselves to become offended their hearts then were no longer
open for further truth. The offense began
when he declared that he IS the bread which came down from heaven. They assumed because of their knowing Mary and
Joseph, how could it be that He came down from heaven, thus this claim immediately caused
them to become offended. They believed the
Messiah would supernaturally appear out of no where, no one would know his origin, where
he came from, nor his parents and since they supposed they knew of The Lords
origin how then could the statement be true that he came down from heaven. Thus, they resented these words and sought not to
understand its meaning. They became
further offended by His words that if any man eat of his flesh, they would live forever. Taking this statement in the literal sense, they
murmured of the impossibility of one giving his flesh for man to eat. They did not understand that Jesus was speaking
figuratively, and what he was truly saying was that whoso ever believes in Him, who put
their faith in Him, would have eternal life as HE was then and IS NOW the WAY to eternal life. WITHOUT his flesh which was offered as a living
sacrifice, and WITHOUT his blood which was shed for the remission of sin, there would be
NO way for one to have obtained salvation and eternal life!
It could not be obtained through works, through good deeds, NOR through
following the laws, but ONLY through Jesus Christ our Lord! However, rather than receive his words and ask
for spiritual understanding, they chose to allow themselves to become offended and thus
many turned from following after him, choosing to depart from the faith. As
it was then, it is the same in the church today. Where many become quickly offended over
words spoken and rather than to seek out spirit meaning and understanding, they reject
what was heard and begin seeking out those that would tell them things they would much
rather hear. Like small children they
refused to eat that which is good for them, but desire those things that are not. Such are they that go from person to person, place
to place, ever learning but NEVER coming to the knowledge of the Truth. They are spiritually malnourished, and spiritually
blind refusing to see. When The Lord speaks a word of warning through his prophets, they
immediately become offended by it discarding the word and calling it foolish and untrue. They become annoyed and irritated by the prophets
words because the word of the Lord disrupts the delusion they are living in that all is
well, so they look for one who would tell them the very opposite of the truth. Because they CHOOSE to be offended by the truth of
the word, rather than HEALED, such have and will continue to fulfill the scripture found
in the book of 1st Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh, expressly, that in the
latter times some shall DEPART FROM THE FAITH, giving HEED to seducing
spirits, and doctrines of devils.. I urge you brethren, before taking offense, SEEK WISDOM! I love you all so very much. Have a blessed week in the Lord and remember: Whatever we do, do ALL for the GLORY of GOD, who ALONE is worthy of the GLORY and the PRAISE! The Lord be with you this day and always! Shalom Uvracha (Peace and Blessings)
