“Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.  Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of his wondrous works.  Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Remember his marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; O y seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.  Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations; Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac; And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance; When ye were but few, even a few, and strangers in it.  And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.  Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all the nations.   For GREAT IS THE LORD, AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED: HE ALSO IS TO BE FEARED ABOVE ALL GODS.  For all the gods of the people are idols; but the LORD made the heavens.  Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.  Give unto the LORD the GLORY DUE UNTO HIS NAME: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.  Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.  Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, THE LORD REIGNETH.  Let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof: let the fields rejoice, and all that is therein.  Then shall the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the LORD, because HE COMETH TO JUDGE THE EARTH.  (1^st Chr 16:8-33)

Even when faced with wars, threats, violence and death, King David always poured “A Song of Praise” out to the Lord, worshiping the Lord for who HE IS being worthy of ALL the praise and honor, and not necessarily for what he would do.  He brings to Israel’s remembrance here in the book of 1^st Chr., of the Lord’s wonderful and marvelous works and of the covenant He made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants.  One can sense while reading this song of praise, David’s genuine pure joy and love of the Lord and his declaration that all should rejoice and give Glory to God for the Lord reigns!  GREAT and MIGHTY are His works, there is NONE like him.  He created the Heavens and Earth and ALL that is within, WORTHY of the Praise; WORHTY of the Honor; WORTHY of the Glory is HE!

Oh that we, the children of God today, would have a TRUE song of praise in our hearts, that spills forth from our lips for the Lord God Almighty as did David.   Somehow, we’ve misunderstood the meaning of praise for we tend to relate the act of worship being given to the Lord with RECEIVING something from Him.  An answered prayer, THEN WE PRAISE….. A need fulfilled, THEN WE PRAISE….. A sick body healed, THEN WE PRAISE!  But while we are on the waiting end, waiting for the Lord to deliver a promise, waiting for the Lord to fulfill a need, we tend to sit then in silence, some in anger, resentment and bitterness, REFUSING to utter one single word of Love and adoration for the One who has given us LIFE!   For the one who is WORTHY of our praise whether we receive any blessings from him OR NOT!  Why are we clinging to an illusion that praise is based upon feelings?  Those who believe this to be of truth are NOT led by the Spirit, but by the soul where the emotions lie and where ultimately the flesh follows.   The proper alignment is First SPIRIT, then soul and body and not as some believe, Soul, body and THEN spirit.  The human mind cannot begin to conceive nor comprehend the very depth of praise and worship nor can the soul, for it is ruled and governed by our emotions.  ONLY the spirit has the capability of TRUE worship unto the Lord.  The truth of the matter is praise and worship unto the Lord has nothing to do with How we FEEL, but is an inward expression of LOVE and GRATITUDE FROM THE SPIRIT, which is then released through our mouths.  Thus Praise begins with the spirit, not the soul nor body.  These things FOLLOW AFTER the Spirit of TRUE WORSHIP.

There are also some who have even accepted the Lord as Savior for the WRONG reasons and thus you have NO spiritual understanding of praise.  For you didn’t come to him because you KNEW he was the one who held the key to eternal life!  You didn’t come to Him because the stench of your sins you could no longer bare, because you knew you could not make it without Him and desired to walk righteously before Him.  You didn’t come to Him in deep gratitude because HE GAVE OF HIMSELF for YOU, and carried the weight and filth of the sins of the world, nailing it upon the cross and in exchange, offering SALVATION and ETERNAL LIFE to as many as would REPENT and RECEIVE!  For such, you have never truly known the Lord but simply uttered words in the form of a “sinners prayer”  that NEVER entered into your heart.  You spoke the words, but did NOT believe. You came to him with a carnal mind and a carnal heart, EXPECTING GIFTS, refusing to give him anything in return, EVEN the simplicity of two simple but yet powerful words….THANK YOU!  And when you DID NOT RECEIVE, like a spoiled little child you pouted and threw a tantrum refusing to speak to “Daddy” until he gave you what you cried out for!  Well, you shall pout for a lifetime and shall expect NO GOOD THING from the Lord for his promises are for those who are HIS!  Uttering words do not make you his but TRUE REPENTANCE of the heart, confessing him with your mouth and believing in your heart that God has raised him from the dead.  Who are we that we should become bitter towards the Lord for “unanswered prayer”, for not receiving “the gifts”, when we are BLESSED to have received the GREATEST most PRECIOUS GIFT of All.  Before, our destination was ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM THE FATHER, separated ETERNALLY from His most AWESOME LOVE and GRACE.  The Lord Jesus has now given us opportunity to become SONS and DAUGHTERS of the Most High God,  and paved the way so that we now may spend ETERNITY with Him.   In my book, His act of this most blessed love and kindness deserves MORE than just a simple “thank you”, MORE than a simple “praise”, more than just “that was a nice thing to do attitude”, but DESERVES MY FULL AND COMPLETE SURRENDER, MY ALL IN ALL, EVERYTHING I AM, ALL OF ME!!  We need not wait for a “reason” to give him praise, we ALREADY have one…SALVATION, ETERNAL LIFE and to sum it all up….HE IS WORTHY!

May a TRUE song of praise come forth from our spirits and through our mouths giving HONOR to where HONOR IS DUE!  He owes us NOTHING!  We owe HIM…..EVERYTHING!!
