William Grega,
Sr.
WELLSBORO - William J. Grega, Sr., 45, of RD 3 Wellsboro
died unexpectedly Thursday at the emergency room of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial
Hospital.
He was born Jan. 27, 1948, in Kane, a son of the late John and
Mabel Muir Grega. On May 6, 1967, he married Sally J. Lindquist, who survives.
Mr. Grega lived in the Wellsboro area for 25 years. He was
employed as a child care worker for Tioga County Juvenile Detention Services.
He was a member of the Whitneyville United Methodist Church and the
River Valley Country Club in RD Wellsboro. He was a PIAA volleyball and basketball
official, and American Legion umpire and a volunteer Little League umpire.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, William J. Grega, Jr.
of Wellsboro, and Robert L. Grega and Paul Grega, both at home; a daughter, Jayne E. Himes
of Norfolk, VA.; four sisters, Dorothy M. Scholl of Allegany, NY, Marion G. Swanson of
Buffalo, NY, Margaret A. Facs of Fremont, CA, and Kathleen C. Grega of Willows, CA; and
several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Tussey-Mosher
Funeral Home where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev
Eugene A. Charsky, chaplain of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro,
officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga County Memorial Gardens, Charleston Township. |
